Halloween starts on October 1st!
Halloween might be on the last day of the month but you can use the activities to keep your students motivated throughout October! Themes like pumpkins, bats, spiders, spooky skeletons, and friendly monsters can be so much fun! This blog post summarizes some of my favorite Halloween related activities for speech therapy sessions:

Print and Play!
Worksheets don’t have to be boring! You can jazz them up with dot markers, magnetic chips, legos, stamps, and stickers. My articulation students enjoy covering these Halloween Speech Monsters and Halloween Speech Spiders with googly eyes and pom poms as they practice their speech words.
Fun Pointers
Throughout the month or October, you can use fun pointers like witch fingers and googly eye pointers to point to pictures. Two of my favorite pointing activities are Seek and Find games and Hidden Picture scenes. In addition, older students can use fun pointers to “search the text” to find story elements, the main idea, or supporting evidence.
Sticky Hands and Suction Cup Monsters
Flash cards can be paired with spooky sticky hands or suction cup monsters during the month of October. Depending on your student’s goals, you could pick up articulation cards, vocabulary cards, conversation starters, etc. The photo above shows halloween sticky spider webs being used to pick up my In Your opinion cards. In addition, the photo at the top of this post shows a sticky skeleton hand paired with my FREE conversation starters task cards.
Halloween Pumpkin Heads
Please check out my recent fall activities blog post to see how you can create “Mr. Pumpkin Heads” using foam pumpkins from the Dollar Tree. The photo shows how I added some Halloween pieces to make a monster pumpkin head.
Playdough Monsters
You can make playdough monsters or playdough jack-o-lanterns for a fun Halloween speech therapy language activity. Your youngest learners can practice making requests, commenting, and requesting assistance. You can practice social skills by setting up the activity so your students have to ask each other for needed materials.
Free Boom Cards!
Finally, don’t miss this FREE Feed the Skeleton Boom Cards activity to practice L and L blends. If you like this activity, you might enjoy the complete Feed the Skeleton activity that targets M, N, P, B, T, D, K, G, F, V, S, Z, SH, CH, TH, L & R in all positions!
